I did a lot of work with Simi and Awaz Utaoh. I always enjoyed working with Simi and loved the work she did for women, and Bristol, as the effects of her work rippled out into families, extended families and the community at large. I was surprised to hear of her passing today, and am deeply saddend, but have many great memories of the times I spent with her. Bristol will never be the same without Simi. Although a little belated, my condolences go out to all of her family, friends and anyone who had the pleasure to meet her. She was a diamond in the true sense of the word. Blessings Simi. Namaste.

My condolences to Simi's family. I first met Simi when I was 16. She was always caring and a wonderful person to have known. I worked alongside Simi for 10 years. We had our share of ups and downs and had many laughs too. She was always there to support you in anything anyone needed. She will be missed very much. RIP

I worked with Simi as a volunteer for many years and knew her very well. Today her funeral was a very sad day for me. I said my goodbyes to my amazing mentor. Simi was a great friend , who will remain in our hearts for ever. She came into our lives decades ago, exactly when, is difficult to remember , as it seems like forever. The adjectives came flooding in from all directions, for our larger than life friend……….. colourful, always immaculately dressed, jovial, kind,generous , affectionate,lovable,lively, strong willed, independent , with an infectious smile…..could go on and on………… As they say, some people come into our lives and leave footprints. Simi certainly is one of them. World has lost a lady with a golden heart

We will always remember Simran Aunty's enthusiastic fun spirit. She was always gracious to my brother and me whenever we would visit our cousins in Bristol. My fondest memory of her is driving with the family in Mohinder Uncle's Jaguar from London to Bristol in the late 1980's, laughing and singing all the way to Elton John's - Passengers. She called us all 'PAGAL". It was one of the most fun road trips I ever had as a kid. May Simran Aunty's soul rest in eternal peace. Till we all one day meet somewhere over the rainbow. Dear Nani, I miss you so much. I'm so grateful for the short but special time we had together since I've been studying in Bristol, I felt so close to you. You were my friend. Since a young age you showered us with gifts and generously shared your love in this way. I remember trips to Bristol when we were little, drawing and playing on the carpet. You were so brave, strong and empowering, until the very end. You would always encourage us to stand up for ourselves, and I will forever carry that forward.
